How much does it cost to create a Solana token?

0.1 SOL base. Remove freeze authority, remove mint authority and lock metadata are +0.1 SOL each, and all three are on by default, so the default total is 0.4 SOL. A custom address adds nothing for 1 to 2 characters, 0.1 SOL for 3 and 0.2 SOL for 4. Solana network fees and rent, roughly 0.02 SOL, come on top. No ongoing fees.

How long does it take?

About a minute without a custom address. Only name and symbol are required, so most of the time is you typing. A 3-character custom address adds a search of about 1 minute in your browser, 4 characters about 10 minutes, depending on your device.

Fill in the token details
Only the name and symbol are required. Supply and decimals are prefilled, so most people leave them as they are.
- Token name: 2 to 32 characters, for example "Orbit"
- Symbol: 1 to 10 characters, for example "ORBIT"
- Total supply: prefilled with 1,000,000,000
- Decimals: prefilled with 9, like SOL
Tip: Keep the symbol short and easy to type. It is what people see next to the balance in their wallet.

Add a logo
A logo is optional. Without one, wallets and explorers show a blank icon. It is uploaded to IPFS with the rest of your metadata.
- PNG or JPG, square
- 512 × 512 px recommended, up to 5 MB
Tip: Check how it looks small. Wallets show token logos at around 32 px.

Choose your safety options
Three options, each +0.1 SOL, all on by default. They run in the same transaction as creation and can't be undone. You can turn them all off at once to pay the 0.1 SOL base price.
- Remove freeze authority: nobody can ever freeze a holder's tokens
- Remove mint authority: nobody, including you, can ever create more tokens, so the supply is fixed
- Lock metadata: the name, symbol, logo and links can never be changed
Under Extras (optional) you can add a description (up to 500 characters), your website, X, Telegram and Discord links, and a custom address that starts or ends with characters you choose. Read the vanity address guide.
Tip: Many token checkers flag tokens that keep mint or freeze authority. Leave the options on unless you have a reason to keep them.

Create and approve
The Create button shows the total, for example "Create token — 0.40 SOL". If your wallet isn't connected yet, it reads "Connect wallet & create" and connects first.
- Connect Phantom, or a Solana Mobile wallet on Android
- Approve one transaction in your wallet
- The fee and the token creation are one transaction, simulated before you sign. If it fails, you are not charged
- Once it confirms, the full supply is in your wallet, with a Solscan link to the token
Tip: Keep about 0.02 SOL on top of the total for network fees and account rent.
